And reflection is the greatest of all... Accurate self-reflection is important to students’ success in math. Teachers can help students to hone this invaluable self- regulatory skill by giving them frequent opportunities to evaluate what they have learned or where they erred after completing a task. Students’ self-efficacy is strengthened with tangible indicators of progress (Ramdass & Zimmerman, 2008). The completion of a working portfolio will allow you as a student to reflect upon key concepts of mathematics for eighth graders. Your focus will be on linear equations, exponential equations, inverse equations and the Pythagorean Theorem and reflecting on each function.
